It’s been more than four months since a ‘genuine’ lazy issue has been released into your inbox. Every Monday and Thursday, a wide, wide range of basketball topics has been thrown your way to keep you interested or occupied. But today, that finally ends.
The NBA is officially back, and the restart begins at 6:30 PM (EST). Twenty-two teams in Orlando will attempt to hold up that golden Larry O’Brien Trophy and try to persuade us all to not consider this season in having an asterisk attached to it. We all know by now that fans will not be attending the games, but news just broke that the NBA will be introducing several new ways to improve our live game viewing experience.
These include multiple, new camera angles, enhanced audio of players and coaches, and a feature on the NBA app that allows for virtual crowd reactions. Customized alternative streams on the NBA League Pass has also been added, with statistic overlays and influencers calling the action. And finally, video boards surrounding the court featuring hundreds of fans watching from home. Even with all the bells and whistles, it’s safe to say that we are all genuinely ecstatic that we never have to rewatch another hardwood classic again.
Having the NBA back will undoubtedly enrich our lives once again, and I want to thank you all for sticking with my little side project during this tough time. I have to thank Adam Silver for the inspirational words, and welcome back to THE lazy NBA!
Catch you Monday.
