Damian Lillard is straight ballin’ right now. He’s had a six-game stretch as we’ve never seen before, even admitting, “I’ve never been in this type of rhythm in my life.” Just look at Lillard’s last six-game stats:
Lillard has averaged 48.8 points per game, shooting 52% inside the arc, 57% from beyond it, and 92% at the free-throw line. From this superhuman effort, the Portland Trail Blazers have now won the last 5-of-6 games, and singlehandedly put his team back into the postseason conversation. They are now just 1.5 games back from the 8th-seed. Adding to that, the Blazers have climbed from 14th to 7th in offensive efficiency, and from 11th to 9th place in the Western Conference.
The only real comparison you can make in what Lillard is doing right now is Stephen Curry in his MVP years. He’s taking 37-footers and making them look like mid-range shots. We all know he’s one of the best in the game, and for Lillard to elevate his greatness to an entirely new level, is astounding. Portland face up against the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday. Let’s watch and find out if it is still in fact, ‘Dame Time.’
Catch you Thursday.
