Hello Lazies.

It’s amazing how time flies by when your hibernating… Welcome to the first lazy issue of the 2019-20 NBA season. Like last year, and the year before — and the year before that — the first regular-season game isn’t till tomorrow, so let’s get you all back up to speed on what has happened over the summer.

We start things off with one of the most anticipated rookies to step on an NBA court, Zion Williamson (pictured). If you haven’t heard of Zion, then, well, I don’t even know what you’re doing with your life. This man is a beast.

In his freshman and only season with Duke, Williamson was named ACC Player of the Year, ACC Athlete of the Year and ACC Rookie of the Year. He set the single-game school scoring record for freshmen in January 2019, claimed ACC Rookie of the Week accolades five times, earned AP Player of the Year, Sporting News College Player of the Year recognition, and won the Wayman Tisdale Award. Some could say, not a bad college career?

He was then drafted with the first pick by the New Orleans Pelicans, and everyone was excited to see how he would perform against the pros in the preseason. We only saw a few games and what do you know, his numbers were historic. Zion averaged over 23 points a game, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists in just 27 minutes. Over the past 20 years, no rookie has finished its preseason campaign averaging more than 20 points per game. And topping it off, barely anyone with his scoring output has come close to touching Zion’s level of efficiency at 73.7 percent.

Slow down their Ed, it’s just preseason. None of the players have their brains turned on yet. And we got gut-punched on Saturday by WOJ to find out that Zion is expected to miss a “period of weeks” because of a knee injury he suffered in the preseason. All we can do now is wait and see later in the year.

Oh, by the way, forgot to mention, China and the NBA are not friends anymore, LeBron and A.D. looked great in their debut, Ben Simmons hits his first career 3-pointer and broke the internet, Curry looks ready to carry the Warriors, and did Lonzo Ball fix his jump shot?

So good to be back, and catch you Thursday.
