Tonight could be the most important game of the 2018-19 NBA season for the Boston Celtics. This series between the Milwaukee Bucks currently stands at 2-to-1 with Milwaukee in the driving seat.
The Celtics took Game 1 with ease and the series looked done for (thanks Paul Pierce). Then they lost Games 2 and 3 in a pair of blowout matches and the series really took a huge U-turn. It’s not just the Bucks superstar that’s holding this team up, it’s the entire team that’s contributing.
Take Game 3 as an example. Giannis Antetokounmpo had 32 points with 13 rebounds, George Hill tallied up 21 points, and Khris Middleton added 20. The whole team is getting amongst it, but the biggest stat that stood out was the free-throws. The Celtics only surrendered 10 free throws to Antetokounmpo in Game 1 and won comfortably. Then, they surrendered significantly more in Games 2 and 3 and got blown out. Boston had the lead at half time in Game 3, but was outscored by 40-31 in the third quarter and trailed by as many as 17 points in the final period.
Losing Game 4 tonight for the Celtics would make their task in reaching the Eastern Conference Finals a very challenging one. We all know that the Bucks won’t let this game slip and Boston really needs to step up. But tonight’s match for Boston isn’t just Game 4, it ultimately decides their future.
Catch you Thursday.
