I can tell you one thing, I’m not going to talk about the Lakers in this issue. Man, they are getting some media attention at the moment, but I would like to direct your attention to the Portland Trail Blazers if you don’t mind.
The Blazers are very interesting at the moment, currently undefeated since the All-Star break and on a solid road trip over in the East. With a 97-92 victory over the Boston Celtics last night, this would become a winning season-high 5th consecutive game for the team and chisel 4 wins from the 7-game East Coast trip. Peaking at the right time?
Portland stands at 38-23 overall, with a 15-15 road trip record. But, when the Blazers come up against a team from the East, they are 18-4. You could say they are the best team in the East, but jokes aside, how does this rate up against the stacked West?
The Blazers remain in 4th position in the Western Conference standings and are 5 games behind the first-place Warriors. But, they are also just half a game behind the third-place Thunder. The story with this team is that they always seem to slip under the radar in the regular season, then fall short in the Playoffs. They’re playing extremely well at the moment focusing on solid defense and Damian Lillard (pictured) going off on offense. To me, if they position themselves well come April, they definitely have a good chance at snagging the top spot of the West.
Side Note: Did you know that Damian Lillard has a 91.1% free-throw percentage? That puts him at number 4 in the NBA leaders.
Catch you Monday.
