This part of the season is very unpredictable, especially as it edges closer and closer to the NBA trade deadline. That deadline is exactly a week from today (Thursday, Feb 7) and chips have already fallen.
The New York Knicks franchise player Kristaps Porzingis, has been traded to the Dallas Mavericks. The switch includes Porzingis, Courtney Lee, Tim Hardaway Jr., for Wesley Matthews, Dennis Smith Jr. and DeAndre Jordan, league sources tell ESPN. This trade pretty much came out of nowhere, and articles are now flooding in about how Porzingis was fed up with ‘his’ Knicks franchise.
Speaking of trades, it’s hard to not cover the over-hyped Anthony Davis debacle, yet nearly every NBA media outlet has his face smeared all over their homepages. Phone calls were not picked up, Davis removed from the Pelicans hype video. It’s like there’s nothing else being covered with the NBA. Even the Nuggets are being written up with an angle on how they can land Davis. But that’s trade deadline time.
For the fans though, it’s incredibly exciting. Loyal superstars in the NBA are now easily shipped off to different destinations. The NBA is a business, and each year that point gets stronger and stronger. I’m sure theres more jaw droppers to come in the next 7 days.
Catch you Monday.
