It was a clear contrast for last nights game against the Washington Wizards and the Los Angeles Lakers. The Wizards were, for some reason, energized and full of compete, and the other completely gassed.
It was a vintage night for John Wall, who aired out the entire suite of moves from his bag of tricks. It seemed like you were watching highlights from 2014. John Wall’s stats were great and just kept rolling on, scoring 40 points, with 14 assists, 6 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. On the other hand, LeBron James was at his sluggish best, scoring a season-low 13 points on 5-of-16 from the field.
With all the controversy over the recent trades, were the Wizards motivated to prove a point? Was Wall auditioning for the Lakers? That’s some hilarious statements, but last night’s win couldn’t be more ‘on-brand’ for Washington. Revving themselves up after some controversy, dismantle a tired road-fried Western conference contender, then probably go straight back into the toilet, as the next five games are on the road for the Wiz.
Going back to the 2014-15 season, John Wall and Bradley Beal (pictured) played great ball alongside veteran Paul Pierce. While Wall and Beal are now older, perhaps they could get a veteran boost from their newest addition from newcomer forward Trevor Ariza.
Side Note: Speaking of trades, this is how the bizarre trade story of Trevor Ariza went down.
Catch you Thursday.
