Last night, the Utah Jazz came up against the Dallas Mavericks and got handed a 50 point spanking. That’s right, 50 points. And to top it off, Utah had a full squad on the court. That defeat can only be compared to when the Jazz were originally in New Orleans, in which they lost by 56 points to the Milwaukee Bucks back in March 1979.
The Jazz scored just 22 points in the second half and finished the game at 118-68. No Jazzman scored more than Ricky Rubio’s 11 points, and he was just 3-for-11 from the field. The team shot just 31 percent overall for the game and missed 29 of their 35 3-point attempts. Meanwhile, the Mavs got cooking and shot 58% from the field.
Stepping back to last year, the Jazz seamed to slip through the cracks in the Western Conference, and landed themselves in the Semifinals against the Rockets. A team that reached this feat, shouldn’t loose to anyone by 50 points, especially a re-build team like the Mavs. I guess sometimes you just have to embrace the suck?
Side Note: Carmelo Anthony’s Rockets career is over after just 10 games. LeBron James made history, passing Wilt Chamberlain for 5th on the NBA’s all-time scoring list. Pistons head coach Dwane Casey went nuts after a buzzer-beater to defeat his old Toronto team. And KD and Green are bro’s again? Lame.
Catch you Monday.
