And… welcome back! Casting a spotlight on the Washington Wizards, the DC team have been playing exceptional basketball in the last month, winning 9-3 in their last 12 games. These are crazy good numbers, especially from the fact that the Washington floor general John Wall, went down with a knee injury in late January.
The Wizards needed to step up, and they certainly have, by playing their best basketball for the year. Washington got wins over the Pacers, Raptors, Cavs and the 76ers this month, and their formula for success is simple. Play consistently hard on defense, while moving the ball quickly in the offense. Combining these two, have helped the Wizards control the pace of the game while finding their best option on the floor in the right spots.
So who’s filling the shoes of John Wall? Thomas Satoransky is the name. Thomas may not have the same impact as Wall, but he’s been a revelation and proven he can be an asset to this team. Bradley Beal, Otto Porter Jr, and Kelly Oubre Jr have also stepped up in their respective roles.
But unfortunately, the battle has only begun. The Wizards will really be tested over the next month, playing 13 straight games against opponents that are all in playoffs position. This stretch of games seems daunting, if not downright worrisome, but this recent hot streak is here just in time.
Catch you Thursday.
