Hello Lazies.

On Sunday’s game against the Brooklyn Nets, Marc Gasol, the Memphis Grizzlies lone All-Star player, was benched with 3:05 remaining in the 3rd and never returned for the rest of the game. The Memphis big man was clearly frustrated, stating he was not happy about his team, nor his playing time.

“I don’t like it one bit. I’m more [angry] than I can show, and frustrated. […] If I’m not out there, I’m not valued. I’m sure they knew that would hurt me the most.”

The Grizzlies head coach, David Fizdale, later explained the decision, by saying he chose to ride with the lineup that got his team back in the game in the first place. But before Gasol’s benching, the big fella racked up 18 points (tied for a team high) and 5 rebounds in 28 minutes. He clearly wasn’t finished for the game.

What looked like reports on the internet that Gasol was losing faith in his team, the Grizzlies came roaring back today and fired their head coach one day after Sunday’s match. This move had completely stunned the NBA, and the players weren’t shy about giving their voice about it.

This last month has surely been a reflective one for Gasol, who re-signed in 2015 with the intent to growing old with the franchise. But this big move from Memphis either shows they are Ride-or-Die with Gasol, or a franchise completely in chaos.

Catch you Thursday.
